Suki Enterprises was born in the nursery of Kaitlynn Alice Laugesen. As the first grandchild in both her Mother’s and Father’s families, this beautiful child was given lots of beautiful clothes and her Mother wanted beautiful accessories to go with these outfits. Since Kaitlynn loved her pacifier, her Mother searched high and low for cute tethers to keep the pacifier close at hand. To her dismay, all she found were large plastic clips that attached to the baby’s shirt and pinched baby’s tongue when she chewed on them. These tethers weren’t cute and didn’t seem safe.
This is when the innovative pacifier and toy tether was created. Megan (Mom) and Susan (Grandma) came up with a magnet system that doesn’t put holes in the baby’s shirt and doesn’t clip to her shirt where she can chew on it and pinch her tongue. One end of the tether slips inside baby’s clothes and the other magnet goes on the outside of the shirt under a decorative button. The pacifier, toy or teething ring attaches to the decorative ribbon with Velcro.
Aunt Lynn, with her years of experience in business, stepped in and said, “I think you have a business here”. With her expertise, we began the process of obtaining a patent for the unique fastening system, and locating suppliers and a manufacturing company to make the product, right here in Colorado.
The name of the company, Suki Enterprises, comes from a company that Grandma Susan had 27 years ago that manufactured the original Suki Barrette Holders. This product sold throughout North and South America and made it possible for the young Mother to work from home and still care for her children. This product is back as the second product in our Suki line.
The three principles in the current company are:
Susan Townsend Demchak – the original “Suki”. Susan has a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in Textile and Clothing Merchandising.
Lynn Alison Demchak – Master of Business Administration, from University of Colorado, Denver and Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University. Lynn delivered her first son, Christopher James on December 2nd, 2008.
Megan Susan Laugesen – Bachelor of Science from University of Arkansas and R.N. (Registered Nurse) from Arapaho Community College in Colorado. Megan is mom to Kaitlynn
